EMERGENCY

A sudden onset of neurological incidence might indicate a neurological emergency. Therefore we strongly recommend visiting the emergency room of the nearest hospital.

Phone number: 144

Only in a hospital the neccessary diagnostics – especially concerning imaging – are available.

Do not lose time, because: „Time is brain!“

Another recommendation: Always take a list with yourself with essential medical information:
–  Previous diseases
–  Medication
–  Allergies

It helps saving time!

The “Live” lectures have already been taking place in German since January 2015. According to the interest of the audience and the relevance of the content, many topics are repeated in a 2-3 year rhythm, but new topics are always added. The classics include, for example: “Stroke prevention” (first lecture on 28.01.2015), “Back pain“, “Visual disturbances”, “Headaches“, “Dizziness“, “Sleepdisturbances”, “Gait disturbances” and “Forgetfulness“. The “old familiar” or proven lecture topics will also be presented in updated versions in each case.

In “Movember” the auditorium always expects a special, not necessarily neurological topic. However, this is also intended to enable people to think outside the box and to help increase their general well-being … just typical “Movember”. Previous Movember themes have been, for example, “Body in Motion,” “Mind in Motion,” “Living Consciously,” and “Healing Thoughts.”

In general, experience shows that the size of the audience is essentially dependent on the weather: If the sun is shining on a balmy summer evening, many prefer to go to the beer garden … on the other hand, many prefer to stay at home when it is cold, dark and rainy.

The lectures are usually held on Wednesdays on odd-numbered months, and recently also on Tuesdays in some cases. In recent years, a summer break has been added.

My lectures are of course free of charge, but there is always a voluntary chance to donate to a good cause related to the topic afterwards. Such donation purposes were for example already: “AVOS”, “MOSES” (Modular Training System for Epilepsy), “Christoffel-Blindenmission”, “Österreichische Selbsthilfe Polyneuropathie”, “Ärzte ohne Grenzen” and others.

In addition to me as a lecturer, the small APEXMED has also been able to put together various guest contributions or interactive lectures:

In 2017, it was a special pleasure and honor for me to welcome Prof. Eugen Trinka as a guest speaker on the topic of “Epilepsy“. In a very descriptive lecture, the heterogeneity of this group of diseases was explained and, in addition, the possibilities of finding the causes as well as the respective therapy options were shown.

In 2016, the psychiatrist Dr. Moritz Mühlbacher spoke about the widespread topic of “depression“. He succeeded in explaining not only the history but also the diversity of this group of diseases and the various promising treatment approaches.

In addition, there was a joint lecture with Ms. Teresa Meikl on the topic “Pain … and what you can do about it“. At this appointment, I showed in advance the associated neurological pathways and their wiring. The Grinberg Method therapist then explained her pragmatic soothing approach to intuitive bodywork.

Relaxation methods such as “progressive muscle relaxation according to Jacobsen” were also presented as examples.

Following lectures on “dizziness” and “gait disorders”, physiotherapist Manuel Reichenpfader demonstrated the various therapeutic methods he uses for “balance training“. To illustrate this, he had some devices and therapy aids with him, which the audience could even try out.

While my contributions like to deal with general symptoms, there were/are also presentations on specific diseases such as: “Parkinson’s“, “Multiple Sclerosis” and “Polyneuropathy“.

Since the “live” lectures had to be cancelled repeatedly from spring 2020 onwards due to the pandemic and some patients asked me for alternatives, I have thought about a remedy: Since 11/2020 I have therefore a small YouTube channel on which I provide information in the form of radio reports and videos to interested persons free of charge. Within the scope of this development there are meanwhile already more than 50 contributions, which you can see also free of charge on the so developed small “MEDIA” section of my homepage. They are divided into VIDEO and AUDIO.

Fortunately, since 2022, “live” contributions have also been taking place more frequently again. The information videos/audios can of course not replace the “live” contributions … and both general theoretical information sources can of course not replace the visit to the doctor.

I wish you all the best and would be happy to help you in my APEXMED practice or in general by means of the contributions … according to my motto:

KNOW HOW TO FEEL GOOD
